Siam Kempinski Bangkok, AKA “shut up and take my money”.
Let’s talk about Thailand.
I know everyone goes bananas for the beaches and those idyllic little tourist hotspots like Koh Phi Phi and Patong Beach and basically all of Koh Samui (which is great, because they’re awesome), but I’ve been looking for something different.
Not just *any* city, either. A big city. A really big city. A really big, crowded, noisy, FANTASTICALLY HUGE CITY. Bangkok! I need shopping, proper mall shopping as well as markets that sell everything from mangoes to monkeys. Side note: don’t buy a monkey. They’re like toddlers, only worse, because they never grow out of the toddler phase and continue to fling poo at you long after the novelty has worn off.
I can almost smell the durian!
Of course, you’re not doing the city justice unless you stay somewhere that allows you to appreciate just how special this place truly is. Today, that place is the Siam Kempinski.
Somehow, they’ve managed to create a tranquil oasis in the middle of one of the world’s most bustling cities. If the insanely chic suites and classy yet understated furnishings (SO easy to get this wrong, by the way) weren’t enough to convince you, you’ll be ready to grab your suitcase and move into the lobby once you see how incredible it is.
JUST LOOK AT IT.
I don’t care if you’ve got plans. I don’t care if you don’t really *do* big cities. This place is worth its weight in gold.
Ridiculously friendly and professional staff, close to every kind of shopping you could possibly want (with an internal connection to the Paragon Mall – very dangerous for my fellow shopping addicts), and with a resort-type feel to it, this is one hotel you don’t want to miss.
The Siam Kempinski Bangkok is part of the Kempinski chain of hotels, and caters to business travellers, families (the kids will be spoilt rotten), couples and even solo travellers. In other words, see you guys later. I’m GOING HOME*.
*HOME = the Siam Kempinski lobby.
(Not really, but it’s nice to pretend.)
