Amanzoe Residences: the Greek God of Resorts

Thousands flock to the shores of Greece every year to experience the country’s sunshine, history, culture and food. With an endless conveyor belt of resorts on offer, it can be hard to single out those that truly offer the finest of Greek hospitality paired with a sense of individuality that makes it worthy of parting with your hard earned cash. Let’s make it easy for you. Set amongst the rolling hills in the stunning Peloponnese region of Greece, Amanzoe is the first Greek venture from luxury hotel brand Aman whose collection of resorts spans 20 countries worldwide – this one really sings to us.

Guests to the resort can choose from a Pavillion with a private plunge pool or a Beach Cabana with nature’s pool (the Aegean Sea) just steps away. If, however you are feeling particularly flush or you’re looking to treat the family (and yourself, let’s be real) to somewhere extraordinarily special, the “Villas” are the pinnacle of the resort. Four, five, six and nine (!) bedroom villas are available, meaning you’ll have plenty of space to spend as much (or as little) time with your group as you like. Despite the fact the design and aesthetics echo Greece’s rich architectural history, which for most of us is a million miles away from what we know, each villa does really feel like a home away from home. It’s down to those personal Aman touches. Not only will you feel instantly comfortable in your Mediterranean hideaway, but the legendary staff go the extra mile to understand you, remember what you like and then deliver. Despite the fact there are other groups around the resort soaking up the atmosphere, you’ll feel like you’re the only guests. Whether you want to visit the surrounding islands or you’d like to dine al fresco at your Villa, the team will make it happen. The staff even leave you a gift in your room every night – and everyone loves a freebie, right?!

The villas themselves are nothing short of spectacular. Stunning inside and out, spacious and complete with a sense of privacy you can’t clone – it’s the finishing touches that elevate the villas to be worthy of their acclaim. Colonnades front each stunning villa, creating a grand arrival and framing views, whilst the Mediterranean vibe is captured with the use of natural colours and cool tones throughout.

The properties sit high above the water allowing for fine views of the shimmering Aegean Sea; the ideal place to take in the burning sunsets with friends. Each villa offers ample space outdoors with expansive terraces that provide comfy seating to lounge around, relax, enjoy a bite to eat and lap up the sun. The resort is positioned in a peaceful and secluded setting, so if you want to head into town you’ll need to have the team organise you a ride. Or if you’re feeling more adventurous, you can always take a casual bike ride down to the beach club or a leisurely stroll to the nearby restaurants.

The resort is surrounded by olive groves and stretches of wonderful Greek countryside, and we think the setting itself is one of the most sensational we’ve come across in all our time hopping around Europe. Would very happily set up camp here and start my new life as an insta celebrity (that’s a thing, right?) Having stayed here, we left wanting more and were surprised to hear that the resort is offering a handful of customisable Amanzoe Residences for sale, set just off the main resort. They still benefit from the unparalleled amenities, hospitality and services offered to guests, minus the sharing part. If you’re looking for a secluded, family holiday home in the sun or a permanent home in which to retire- these luxury residences in Porto Heli would be our top pick.
